Dumpling the raccoon pops out of a trash can in a city alley at night. The lid, a traffic cone, a paper crown and a beanie fly off around him.

A Desktop Pet

Meet Dumpling, a small raccoon who lives in a trash can in the corner of your screen. Every key you press and every click makes him drum on his can. Type fast enough and the lid launches off his head.

How it plays

He reacts to you

Work, chat, game, write. Type faster and Dumpling gets frantic, the can rattles, and if you keep it up the lid flies clean off. Stop typing and he dozes off, snoring little Zs.

He finds things

Every few hundred keystrokes Dumpling digs something out of the trash and takes it home to the Nest: a lonely sock, a cold fry, a mystery key, a participation trophy. There are 40 pieces of junk to collect in 8 sets, from common to legendary, and every dig shakes loose some scrap.

You dress him up

Over 60 cosmetics in eight slots: hats that replace his lid, glasses, gloves, whole new cans, stickers and more. Buy them with scrap, earn them by finishing junk sets, or unlock feats. Launch the lid three times in a minute and the Dumpster Fire is yours.

He stays out of your way

No menus to learn, no goals, no fail state. Dumpling sits above your other windows, and clicks pass straight through everywhere except on him. You can make him smaller or show only the top of his can.

Also in the can

  • Petting and feeding, a sleepy yawn and stretch, and speech-bubble reactions.
  • Visitors: a pigeon, an opossum or a stray cat may drop by.
  • A 25-minute focus timer with a daily streak.
  • Photo mode: save a transparent picture of your raccoon in his outfit.
  • Friend visits: swap a visit code and your friend's raccoon drops by.
  • Stream mode with a key-colour background, and optional Twitch chat reactions.
  • Agent buddy (optional): Dumpling rings a bell when your Claude Code or Codex session is done.
  • Steam achievements, three sizes and three crop levels, optional sounds.

Privacy

Dumpster Raccoon never records which keys you press. It only notices that a key went down, so Dumpling can bang the lid. Nothing you type is stored, logged or sent anywhere.

Holding a key down does not count, and neither do Shift, Ctrl, Alt or Cmd on their own. On macOS the system asks you to allow Input Monitoring; the game uses that permission only to count presses.
